R. Eric Bessey, DDS
Meet Dr. Bessey
Dr. Eric Bessey was born in Manti, Utah. He attended Utah State University where he majored in pre-dental education with a minor in Spanish. He completed his dental degree at the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. Upon graduation Dr. Bessey entered the U.S. Army and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry one-year Program at Ft. Campbell, KY. In 2001, he was accepted into the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. He completed his surgery training in 2005 and most recently served as Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Dr. Bessey joined Jefferson City Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in July, 2009.
Dr. Bessey’s four years of residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery included specialized training in maxillofacial reconstruction, facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, dental implants, bone grafting and the extraction of teeth.
He is a Board Certified Surgeon and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Bessey keeps abreast of the latest advancements in oral surgery through his memberships in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, and the Missouri Dental Association. He currently is on the medical staff at Capital Region Medical Center, St Mary’s Hospital and is an examiner for the Missouri State Dental Board on General Anesthesia & Deep Sedation.
Dr. Bessey and his wife, Kimberly, have four children. He enjoys sports and fitness, family time, travel, and the many outdoor activities Missouri has to offer.
